PATCH IT! - How To Repair Damaged Areas

RECTANGULAR HOLES:
Holes left where electrical plugs, light switches, fixtures or other items have been removed from the wall surfaces. PATCH IT will repair holes that are a minimum of 2 1/2” up to 4”x 4”. If the hole is oblong, see the section for special instructions for repairing oblong holes.
ROUND HOLES:
Damage from door knobs. Use your utility knife to cut out a square opening at least 2 1/2”x 2 1/2”. Cut the square hole so all the damaged area is removed and the sides of the hole are smooth. After this repair is complete…… install a “Door Stop” for the door.
ROUND HOLES, SMOOTH EDGES:
For round holes in the wall from removing light fixture or junction boxes and the edges of the hole are not damaged. This round hole can be repaired as is, if it is over 2 1/2”. Use the PART “A” as is and PARTS “B” and “C” if hole is larger than 4” in diameter. Install PART “A” last.
LONG HOLES:
This damage is usually the worst and hardest to repair because the edges of the hole are very ragged and the damage is extensive. This damage is the result of removing electrical conduit or plumbing pipes from the inside wall. If this damage is very long and a large area, remove the drywall or other wall material from “Center Stud” to “ Center Stud” and replace the section with new materials. It is not practical to use our PATCH IT KIT to repair a hole that big. If the hole is a maximum of 48 square inches (4”x12”, 6”x8”, 3”x16”) use the PATCH IT KIT. Trim the sides with a utility knife and install as per instructions. Install PART “A” last.
LONG OBLONG HOLES:
Long oblong holes where control panels or other special appliances have been removed from the wall leaving an Oblong “Cut Out” hole. If the edges are broken from removing the appliances, use your utility knife to trim them. If the oblong hole is not over a maximum of 48 square inches (4”x12”, 6”x8”, 3”x16”) use the PATCH IT KIT. Trim the sides with a utility knife and install as per instructions. Install PART “A” last.
REPAIRS NEXT TO STUDS:
The following are instructions for inserting PART “A” when the hole being repaired is next to a wall stud. This will happen often when you have electrical holes to patch. PART “A” has a cut that is part way through one side. The cut runs the full length of PART “A” and you can bend it at the cutline to form a 90 degree angle. The 90 degree angle will allow you to attach PART “ A” as shown in top diagram shown below.
