1. DAMAGE EXAMPLE (Door Knob)
This damage occurs most often. Opening doors too fast, door “Stop” not in place, etc. Most home owners have had this happen.
2. DAMAGE (Inside the Wall)
This is what the inside of the wall looks like when the door knob goes through the wall. The loose pieces of drywall must be removed before a repair can be made.
3. INSERT BACKING PART “A”
After cleaning out the loose pieces and dust from inside the wall, part “A” is folded to fit through the hole that is being repaired. DO NOT REMOVE the protective paper at this point. The toggle action allows the part to be
opened inside the wall. If a object is inside the wall, the part can be cut to fit around it.
4. APPLY BACKING PART “A”
After clearing any problems inside the wall, now REMOVE THE PROTECTIVE PAPER. The adhesive is now exposed. Insert the part into the hole and attache it to the inside of the wall. With your finger, apply pressure firmly to the part through the pre-cut hole.
5. ATTACH COVER PLATE
Using the square cover plate that is attached to the safety cord, stick it securely over the pre-cut center hole. This prevents the repair compound from falling through the hole.
6. APPLY THE REPAIR COMPOUND
The backing is now firmly in place and ready to apply the repair compound or spackle. It is then allowed to dry/cure as per compound manufacturer’s instructions.
7. SAND
Sanding (if required) to finish for a smooth repair can be accomplished with the sheet of sandpaper that is included in the Patch Kit Box. Allow drying time based on instruction on the compound package.
8. FINISHED REPAIR
The smooth surface repair is now ready for painting, wallpapering, or applying tile. This is the professional way to really repair wall damage... not just cover it up!
